Is Adoption Right For Me?
An unplanned pregnancy can be difficult and overwhelming. At The Women’s Center, we are here to ensure you are informed of the options available to you to make the best decision for you. Adoption is an alternative to abortion that allows another family to provide a safe, loving home for your child.
Adoption Information
One of the first steps in considering adoption would be partnering with an adoption agency. While The Women’s Center is not an adoption agency, we will help you find an agency that has your best interests at heart. From there, the agency will work closely with you throughout the process and will help you understand your options and legal rights.
Types of Adoption:
-
Open Adoption
– in an open adoption, both the birth family and the adoptive family share identifying information with one another. This may include names, phone numbers and email addresses. Both parties are able to communicate freely with one another during and after the adoption process and you will work together to determine your level of involvement with the child and family after birth. -
Closed Adoption
– During a closed adoption, there is no interaction at all between the birth mother and the adopting family. All identifying information of both parties is kept private and confidential and sealed both during pregnancy and after the baby is born. -
Semi-Open Adoption
– This option allows for the birth mother and the adopting parents to have contact during the pregnancy. Once the baby is born, the adoptive family is able to send updates on the baby so you can know how your child is doing throughout their life.
